This document is the final report of the eleventh session of the Committee for Inland Fisheries of Africa (CIFA), which was held in Abuja, Nigeria, from 24 to 27 October 2000. The major topics discussed were: seminar on inland aquatic resources management and structural adjustment policies; follow-up actions to the tenth session of CIFA; recommendations of the subsidiary bodies of the Committee; emerging issues in inland capture fisheries and aquaculture of relevance to the CIFA region; opportunities for the integration of irrigation and aquaculture; prospects for sustainable commercial aquaculture development in Africa; and the major topic for discussion at the twelfth session of the Committee. The summary of the main decisions and recommendations is given in Appendix E.
