This document is half of a two part publication which is designed to address the following issues:

1) Review the developmental status of inland saline aquaculture in Australia.
2) Evaluate likely obstacles and limitations to the commercial expansion of inland saline aquaculture and the ability for R & D to address these limitations.
3) Develop an R & D plan to address these obstacles and limitations in consultation with the aquaculture industry and related disciplinary experts.
4) Document the distribution and characteristics of inland saline groundwaters and their potential use for the farming of aquatic organisms.
