Sea Lice Treatment Chemicals Risk Assessment of Azamethiphos

Scottish Environment Protection Agency

Document format: pdf

Publisher: Scottish Environment Protection Agency

Creation date: June 1997

This document contains a technical review of Azamethiphos (Salmosan), a medication used to control sea lice infestations in salmon farms. Ecotoxicology, environmental risks, hydrolytic degradation, and toxicity in sediments are all examined. Recommendations are made to the Scottish Executive to consider formulating a policy for the use of azamethiphos that allows its use under circumstances where modelling predicts low residual concentrations.
