This document reviews existing methods for dead fish removal from sea cages, and describes a new, simplified retrieval system, suitable for most common types of sea cage. It can be operated easily and quickly by one person, allowing frequent checking for and removal of dead salmon without undue stress on the healthy fish. the rapid recognition of disease outbreak and diagnosis of the disease means that subsequent treatment can be effected without delay. details are given of the construction of the new dead sock system and a description of its operation.
