The framework of BC Aquaculture R & D Priorities - 2001 identifies eight thematic areas and specific priority issues that will guide R & D investment decisions and lists a number of possible specific research projects for each theme. The priority setting process also identified urgent capacity and policy issues that need to be addressed to ensure a successful R & D program, including technical capacity of the sector, R & D infrastructure, testing and monitoring infrastructure and extension services. Topics are broken down into three main priorities, which are productivity improvement, optimization of fish health and product safety, and promoting environmental and socio-economic stability.
