The Southern Regional Aquaculture Center supported a regional research project, "Characterization of Finfish and Shellfish Aquacultural Effluents" to investigate effluent quality and treatment alternatives. The results of this project suggest that the impact of aquaculture pond effluents on the environment can be reduced by using relatively simple management practices.
