Recirculating Aquaculture Tank Production Systems

A Review of Component Options

Thomas M. Losordo, Michael P. Masser and James E. Rakocy

Document format: pdf

Publisher: Southern Regional Aquaculture Center

Creation date: April 1999

Most fish grown in ponds, floating net pens, or raceways can be reared in commercial scale recirculating systems, but the economic feasibility of doing so is not certain. The challenge to designers of recirculating systems is to maximize production capacity per dollar of capital invested. Components should be designed and integrated into the complete system to reduce cost while maintaining or even improving reliability.
